Yard Clean Up Service for Active Members
Monday, April 25th, from 10 AM until Noon
River West Village has NINE volunteers ready to do light, general cleanup on a few yards on Monday, April 25th between 10:00 am and noon. This is just to tidy up the yard from any leaves and things left from last fall and to pick-up debris that built up over the winter months. Raking, trimming, and maybe a little weeding is what we plan on doing. The plan is for 3 or 4 folks to spend about 2 hours cleaning things up. Someone will visit your yard in advance to see what needs to be done so the crew has an idea of what to expect before they arrive. If there is more major maintenance needed then you will be asked to contact the office and submit a service request for that work.
Your yard debris bin will be used for the refuse and then anything that will not fit in the bin will be put in paper leaf bags that RWV will provide. You will be responsible to pay any additional hauling charges that your trash hauler assesses for the extra bags. If you need help getting the trash out to the curb on pickup day let us know and someone will come by the day before and put it out there.
What you need to do:
- Please have any yard tools you have available for the volunteers to use. They will bring some tools with them but better to have too many tools than not enough.
- Please move hoses, outdoor furniture, etc. out of the way or alert the volunteers to these things and they will move them.
- Please let the volunteers know about any delicate or fragile plants in your yard so care can be taken when working around them.
- That's about it!
To sign up for the yard cleanup please contact the office either by phone (503-495-4934) or email (info@riverwestvillage.org) and let them know. We have a limited number of volunteers so we may not be able to get to all the yards but we will do as many as we can. If we need to schedule an additional day we will do that. We plan on making this service project a regular event in the spring and fall.
We sent a similar email out previously to the full service members to give them the first chance at scheduling. There is still a chance for a couple more yards to be added to the list so let us know if you want this done (or I may just ask the volunteers to come over to my house!).
We could also use 3 or 4 more volunteers to do the cleanup so if you are willing and able please let the office know!
