Food as Medicine: 6 Week Series

Register by Thursday, February 4 (see registration info below). Series starts the week of Feb 15th.

A "Food as Medicine" class (online Zoom) is starting February 15 for all villages in Villages NW. It's a free, 6-week class; one class each week; each class lasting 90 minutes; a combination of lecture and discussion. This course was given last year in one of our Villages and received very positive responses.

The classes will be led by Erin Fredericks, MS, Nutritionist & Educator; Food as Medicine Advocate; Champion for Older Adults. She is offering the classes at 3 different day/time slots: Tuesdays at 1-2:30pm, Wednesday or Thursdays at 10-11:30am. Each class will be limited to 10 participants.

Participants are encouraged to attend all six sessions as concepts are cumulative and discussion will be based on the previous week’s take-home “assignment”.

Week 1: Digestion 101: Building the Gut Microbiome
Week 2: Our Physical Structure: Maintaining Muscle & Bone Strength
Week 3: Blood Sugar Basics: Gaining Glycemic Control & Improving Brain Health
Week 4: Identifying & Addressing Inflammation: Healing from Illness
Week 5: Medication & Lifestyle Detoxification: Supporting the Liver & Kidneys
Week 6: Food as Medicine, Every Day: Maximizing Nutritional Bioavailability

If you are interested in attending, register by Thursday, February 4, with Janet Liu, janetliu1@juno.com, for your preferred (and 2nd choice) day/time slot.
