Movie this Month: Two Short Films
1. Women and Wine, Kvinner & Cava, 2016, 21 minutes. Turid is attending her friend’s fiftieth birthday celebration. During the party, she comes to realize she is no longer among her closest. Thus Turid starts a game to make her mark, and the party turns out to involve much more than singing and wine. Winner of the Jury Prize in the Short Film Competition at the Seattle International Film Festival.
2. The Present, 2020, 23 minutes. On his anniversary, Yusef and his young daughter set out in the West Bank to buy his wife a gift. Between soldiers, segregated roads and checkpoints, how easy would it be to go shopping? Nominee, Academy Awards.
